Using a pot for a voltage divider

This is how you use a pot to set a level: volume, voltage, etc. Remember that pots have wattage ratings like resistors do and if you exceed the maximum power it can dissipate it will burn out so use a bit of Ohm's law to make sure everything keeps working.
