You can buy discrete matched NPN pairs from me here. You can match your own transistors by hand The unit will work with two plain old unmatched 2N3904 NPN transistors but the 1V/Octave tracking of the VCOs will be greatly diminished. The unit will work perfectly with three pairs of hand matched 2N3904 or 2N2222 NPN transistors. |

You can use all 1% resistors if you want to with added temperature stability. You can use all 5% resistors if you want to with degraded temperature stability. I have suggested 1% metal film resistors where I believe they are necessary for optimal performance.
LM13700N is still in full production at National Semiconductor but if you can't find it here are some suitable substitutions: LM13600, NE5517, AU5517, NTE870.
